POTENTIALS
Potentials refers to the deep seated inherent
capacities or abilities of individuals which enables them to achieve, develop
or per in a certain way often in the future. Potentials are the natural
embedded abilities lying quietly in every individual but can be awoken by
putting some actions into place.
Developing and unlocking our potentials
remains one of the best ways to achieve most of the impossible tasks in in our
lives and immediate environment. Great individuals who had inventions that
propelled humanities to greater heights were invented by normal beings.
We have people such as Helen Keller though
blind, deaf and dumb at a very age yet she became a celebrity all her life, she
became an individual who fought for the rights of the people and also rose to
become author ob books written personally by her.
Here are few tips to discover and unlock the
hidden and exceptional abilities lying fallow that is waiting to be activated.
a. Self
–Reflection: It is always important to reflect on our interests,
values and passions which give us happiness and satisfaction whenever we embark
on them. Our passion is the best time of our discovering our potentials. What
we do easily that gives us fulfillment and inner joy despite the hurdles that
goes along with it is a way of testing and discovering the inherent abilities
that lives within us. Potentials is unlocked and re awoken to a fuller
development in achieving our desired purpose. These are pertinent questions to
be asked: what are my interests? What are the values that I cherished most?
What are the passions that give me satisfaction and fulfillment?
b. Exploring
Diverse Activities: Working assiduously to discover the potentials
hidden within us, there the efforts of exploring and delving into various
activities to really discover what we enjoy most when we partake in such
activities. We must not be confined to a particular activity but there should
be a broad view of launching into new activities at a wider level to really see
what we excel in. Having open mind to new discoveries gives us new and broader
opportunities to discover better ways to getting over challenges. One of the
setbacks in discovering the best for our lives remains living in our
conservative cocoon.
c. Setting
Goals: There should be clearly defined and achievable goals to give us
direction. There should be a long and short term goals that should be placed on
realistic and achievable terms. Direction can only be achieved when there is a
roadmap defined and routed with determined purpose of getting a positive
result. What are your goals? When is the set time of reaching your goals? What
do hope to achieve with your goals?
d. Seeking
and getting Feedback: While embarking on the journey to discover your
potentials, there should be a time of getting feedbacks from your friends,
mentors or colleagues to gain insights into strengths. This affords you the
opportunities to know the true results of who you are. It gives you the ample
opportunities to how the public rates and sees you. Others are your best
mirrors; they remain your best critique and scrutiny. Working on the feedback
should be done with an open mind without bias. Your critics are your best
friends when it comes to working on improving personality.
e. Embrace
challenges: Don’t shy or run away from challenges, they are often the
one of the best ways to reveal your untapped potentials. Challenges should be
embraced as it remains a way of digging deeper to discover our untapped
potentials. They come in different ways that one might be aware of; it might be
from within or without. The individual should be thick skinned as challenges
come our way in defining our individuality in the larger society. Some of
the challenges might not come from the source that we expect or from the people
we least expect from yet they should be embraced as a student from a teacher.
How do we see challenges? How do we react to challenges?
f. Continuous
Learning: Engaging in lifelong learning helps to uncover new skills
and talents as we move to enhance our potentials. Developments and growth
doesn’t come from idleness of remaining static, it comes from continuous
engagement in putting the minds to reading and studying new fields. The world
is gathering and getting new ination at an alarming speed which continues to be
unprecedented. The world has become scientific; the individual that refuses to
increase his or her knowledge will become obsolete or irrelevant.
g. Mentorship: Knowledge
remains a gold mine sought by individuals who are determined to get to the top
through their God given potentials. To achieve these goals, guidance is needed
from mentors who can provide valuable insights and advice. Mentors are individuals
who have the knowledge we are looking for in our careers. They have all the
experiences we sought for and are needed to guide us through. Their guidance
and insights remain invaluable to our needs.
h. Volunteering: You should
offer your time and skills in various contexts to discover where you can make a
meaningful impact. These activities offer the opportunity to mingle with others
where you impact and influence is felt meaningfully. Your services in such an
environment makes you know your relevance in the society and how much your
ability can help shape the society.
i. Celebrating
your achievements: Always take time to acknowledge and celebrate your
successes no matter how small or intangible they seem to look.
j. Personal
SWOT Analysis: Don’t forget to assess your Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities and Threat to gain self-awareness. Work and improve on the areas
that are crucial to your development and survival.
k. Embrace
Failure: See failure as teacher as they provide you with valuable
lessons for personal growth. Don’t get too big to fail, failure is a time look
back to see where the lapses came from and how it can be corrected and improved
on.
Conclusion
There is no limit in
getting to our desired potentials in life if the desire to get to the ultimate
purpose of our vision is clearly defined. Continuous learning, moving along
with others, ready to accept correction and make amends where necessary is a
true mark of success.
